Our Opportunity: 

Chewy is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Java for our Pet Health team in Boston, MA. This is a high-profile position that will have exposure across the entire business, influencing the vision and implementation of architecture, design and features for this critical business line. As part of a dynamic team, this role offers a tremendous opportunity for professional growth in the leading online pet retailer in the US. The role will allow you to act as an individual contributor as part of a team of strong engineers building services for Chewy’s new Pet Health initiatives. The role will have tremendous visibility in the technology & business organization of Chewy.

What You'll Do:

• Build high-performance applications as part of a dynamic development team
• Design solutions within an existing software ecosystem
• Work in an agile, test-driven environment
• Collaborate with Application Development, Architecture and Product Management teams
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers to build quality software
• Bring industry best practices in terms of technology and process

What You'll Need:

• Minimum 5-7 years of experience as a software engineer
• Strong knowledge of Java, Spring and related open source frameworks
• Demonstrated experience developing secure web applications using REST, microservices and related technologies
• Adherence to test-driven development methodologies within a CI/CD framework
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team
• Willingness to work in a DevOps setting
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience

Bonus:

• Ecommerce and/or Healthcare experience
• Experience building applications using AWS services (or equivalent)
