In this role you will:

  • Lead and coordinate the work of technicians to ensure alignment of priorities with engineering and operations teams.
  • Assemble, test, and maintain prototypes of complex, high-end 3D printing systems:

  • Build prototype machines, custom test apparatuses and related equipment
  • Run tests and capture data to measure machine performance
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to mechanical, electrical, software and system performance
  • Maintain machines and manage configurations to enable maximum uptime in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Work closely with engineering team to:

  • Quickly iterate on evaluating various design alternatives
  • Provide design feedback and redline documentation
  • Identify and correct quality issues during development and prototyping phases
  • Design and implement test plans that provide performance data and drive technical decision making
  • Generate documentation to clarify design and manufacturing details for prototype systems
  • Write and maintain library of SOPs for various procedures such as build, test and maintenance
  • Maintain lab facilities, tools and equipment to support a diverse, passionate, fast-paced team

What we look for:

  • 8+ years experience building and maintaining complicated, high performance systems
  • Strong hands-on skills focused on precision assembly of complex electromechanical devices, combined with a passion for cutting edge technology and continuous improvement
  • History of contributing to a culture of technical excellence and teamwork
  • Self-motivated and able to effectively manage time and priorities
  • Able to read blueprints, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions for assembling and testing electrical & mechanical components
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Eager to learn new tools & technologies
  • Subject matter expertise in several of the following areas:

  • Assembly, bringup, debug and rework of surface mount PCBAs
  • Cable harness build and documentation
  • Test equipment including sensors, DAQ, and software
  • Fabrication techniques such as machining, sheet metal, welding 3D printing, etc
  • Custom test fixture design and development
