The Customer Growth Platform (CGP) is centered around creating a personalized adoption flywheel for the entire Toast ecosystem for new and existing customers.
As Senior Engineering Manager for CGP, you will own the creation and success of products and solutions that enable Restaurants to best leverage the broad suite of Toast products including Payroll, Inventory, Point of Sale, Online Ordering, Loyalty and more. The role is highly analytical and requires a curious mind to uncover new opportunities that improve operational efficiencies and provide better outcomes for customers. This high performing team has built the expertise in self service and is ready for massive growth in 2022. Its success comes through disciplined engineering practices, partnering with other R&D teams, and forging a strong collaboration with Product and Design.
On a given day, you might be reviewing solution designs, coordinating discussions between partner teams, collaborating on roadmaps with architectural and product stakeholders, and conducting 1:1s.
Some projects we’ve been working on recently include:
- Empowering Restaurants to configure their locations via self-service thereby allowing Toast to dramatically scale our customer base
- Providing fully customizable, step by step walkthroughs of key product modules
- Scaling our analytics service to support 10x capacity while also supporting downstream systems in near-real time with a rich data architecture
About this roll* (Responsibilities)
- Drive delivery of business outcomes across multiple teams, including planning and execution
- Collaborate closely with related teams across R&D, Marketing, BI, Product and UX to ensure cross functional needs are considered in all work
- Ensure quality end-to-end delivery of software, including team ownership of monitoring and production issue remediation, and collaboration with QA
- Define and support career development for your team
- Mentor and coach both new and experienced Engineering Managers & Team Leads
- Hire and grow teams to meet business needs
Do you have the right ingredients? (Requirements)
- Inquisitive nature to dig into data to answer “Is our work driving better customer outcomes- why or why not?”
- Ability to lean in on key architectural projects- not necessarily hands on, but enough to provide guidance for the senior team members and to connect their work to the overall strategy
- Experience delivering high quality, reliable features and services to production.
- Experience working with distributed teams in different timezones.
- Extensive experience of integrating with third party products and applications, including Customer Data platforms.
- Work with Product Leadership and product teams to define and integrate best practices and processes related to OKRs (objectives & key results), customer feature requests and internal tools

Our Tech Stack:
Our backend services follow a microservice architecture written using Java and Kotlin on DropWizard while the front end is react; we use AWS extensively, ranging from S3 to RDS to DynamoDB to Lambda. We have our own platform for dealing with service elevations and robust load balancing. We store data in PostgreSQL databases or DynamoDB tables depending on use case, and utilize Apache Spark for large scale data workloads including query and batch processing. Apache Pulsar and Camel are used extensively in our integration transaction workflow processing
