As a Software Engineer within Developer Experience you will think about how to present complex cloud infrastructure as simple, configurable tools for our customers. Working with the Product team, and reporting to an Engineering Manager, you will decide how products and services are positioned together so that developers can scale their systems on DigitalOcean. You will also work within the broader engineering organization to improve efficiency and performance of internal systems, so that we can support our growing customer base.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Developing software written in Go, Rails, and Javascript, working with containerized applications in Docker, and deploying within a CI/CD environment
• Supporting ETL processes with data stored in MySQL, Redis, and being exposed thru public and internal API’s
• Relying on a common logging structure and tools like Prometheus and Grafana to monitor, alert and troubleshoot internal production performance issues
• Collaborating within a remote team to find improvements to our systems, and provide better visibility into dependencies
• Contributing back to the open source software that we rely on

What We’ll Expect From You:

• At least 4 years of experience working as a full-stack engineer, with demonstrated ability to solve performance and scale challenges
• Advanced understanding of building scalable, distributed systems using Golang
• Some exposure to Javascript and/or Rails
• A proven background designing data-driven software, following observability, testing and deployment best practices.
• A fluent Linux shell user with expert understanding of Linux operating systems
• Experience with consuming messages from Kafka, RabbitMQ, ZeroMQ, etc
• Proficiency with writing efficient T-SQL (MySQL, MS-SQL, etc)
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines like GoCD or Concourse a plus
• Past experience keeping track of your work using project tracking tools like JIRA and Confluence
