Senior Electrical Engineer

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at WHOOP, you will work with the Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams on developing and supporting cutting edge wearable technologies. You will drive the design, mass production, validation, and continuous improvement of cutting edge human performance optimization products. You will interface directly with suppliers and contract manufacturers (CMs) to scale up production from prototype quantities to millions of units per year. You are deeply familiar with electrical concepts and best practices and have the deep vocabulary required to work with mechanical engineers, firmware engineers, and technicians.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ownership of electrical architectures, component selection, product requirements & specifications, electrical design processes, and execution of project plans
- Evaluation and selection of production, assembly, and manufacturing techniques, optimizing for product requirements, quality, reliability, lead time, and cost
- Support of manufacturing and supply chain, including developing partnerships, selecting and qualifying suppliers, developing functional tests, selecting and evaluating second sources, and guiding the design of automated electrical test platforms
- Lead the design of battery powered, miniaturized, low power, low noise, mixed signal electronics using latest PCB manufacturing technologies
- Work with diverse cross-functional product development teams to develop verification and validation plan execution to test product features, electrical performance, long-term reliability, and regulatory compliance against product requirements
- Prototyping, debugging, and analysis using standard lab equipment and techniques
- Schematic capture and PCB layout of electrical circuits for mass production using CAD and simulation tools such as Altium and SPICE
- Support research and development of next generation technologies, manufacturing techniques, and concepts
- Up to 20% travel domestically and internationally to partners, suppliers, and contract manufacturers
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS or greater in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 7+ years experience in relevant fields
- First hand experience with international CMs and suppliers, product development, designing for manufacturing/assembly/test, and technical project management
- Extensive electrical engineering skills including a deep familiarity with circuit design, component fundamentals, power supply design, RF layout, digital communication protocols, manufacturing processes, automated test, and debug of sophisticated systems
- Lab experience including soldering and the use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, SMUs, RF analyzers, etc
- Familiarity with ECAD tools such as Altium and PLM tools like Arena
- Experience in designing and developing battery-powered consumer electronics at scale and/or biomedical sensors such as ECG, PPG, SpO₂, GSR, etc
This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.
