As the Senior Director of Mechanical Engineering you will be responsible for managing a group of brilliant and extremely high performing individuals and leaders at Markforged, establishing engineering standards and practices. You will be responsible for working with stakeholders from across the business to translate business requirements and objectives into top level engineering requirements.

 What will you own?
  • Develop the world’s most advanced 3D printers
  • Manage, mentor, and train the mechanical engineering team
  • Help employees deliver high quality results and grow their careers while having fun
  • Grow team to support multiple, simultaneous projects, and hire top talent
  • Work with other leaders to determine project requirements including schedule, staffing, budget, and workspace
  • Oversee internal prototype machine shop and print farm
  • Manage engineering tools such as Solidworks and PDM
  • Serve as engineering stakeholder in configuration and operation of cross functional systems such Arena PLM, Jira and Confluence
  • Review and approve designs for performance, quality and consistency
  • Work closely with manufacturing to ensure production stability and quality
  • Advocate for the mechanical engineering viewpoint in cross functional discussions
  • Influence product strategy

 What you have:

  • 10+ years experience leading teams developing complex electromechanical products on aggressive timelines
  • Expert mechanical engineering skills
  • Experience applying engineering best practices to systems design, tradeoff analysis, modeling and simulation, CAD, design reviews, FMEA, DFx, configuration management, and product lifecycle
  • Fluid communication skills that allow you to achieve cross-functional alignment
  • Managed teams of 20 or more people (ideally)
  • B.S in mechanical engineering (M.S. Preferred)
