As a Scientist in the Sensor Processing group, you will work with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers to develop next-generation Computer Vision and Robotics-based applications. Charles River offers a unique, fast-paced environment at the intersection of advanced research and product development. As part of our team, you will play a central role in prototyping, developing, and testing new software technologies across a variety of domains, including but not limited to Robot Vision and Navigation, Human-Robot Interaction, Surveillance, Sensor queuing and management/optimization. You will work with and develop advanced vision and machine learning algorithms, applying them to novel sensors, robotic systems, and mobile devices to produce innovative new capabilities and products.

Since our focus is to create novel, game-changing technologies, the ideal candidate will thrive in the face of changing or loosely-defined requirements, take pride in their work, and embrace learning new tools and technologies. The candidate will creatively contribute to all phases of the research and development lifecycle, from requirements analysis through prototype development and field experimentation, and supporting/orchestrating live demonstrations.

Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field
  • A year or more of experience, or a Master’s or PhD in a relevant discipline is a strong plus (as we are seeking team members for openings at multiple levels, applicants with experience ranging from entry level to senior are encouraged to apply)
  • Familiarity with image, video, or other sensor processing-based algorithms and applications
  • Experience designing and implementing pattern recognition and/or machine learning/deep learning algorithms will be considered a strong plus
  • Strong programming skills using C++, Python, and/or MATLAB will be considered a strong plus
  • Publications in a related field will be considered a strong plus
  • Candidates must possess strong verbal and written skills to support technical proposal writing and business development efforts, including interaction with customers and presentations at technical conferences.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position
