As a Quality Engineer on the Quality Team you will be responsible for supporting different parts of the organization to maintain quality standards. This role is critical to ensure Markforged devices and business units maintain a high level of quality standards and maintain ISO 9001 certifications standards. The responsibilities include designing quality standards, inspecting materials, equipment, processes and products, developing quality control systems and determining corrective actions. The role will assist various business units managers and leads to ensure that there is constant collaboration in continuous improvement efforts and implementation of quality measures. You will report to the Director of Quality and as a team, build synergy around the company to constantly strive to improve and help streamline processes and build controls in different areas of the organization. The ideal candidate exhibits exceptional communication, has a data mindset, great organization skills, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and be willing to learn and adapt in a fast paced environment.

What will you own?
  • Developing and implementing quality control systems.
  • Developing and implementing quality standards.
  • Monitoring and analyzing quality performance.
  • Inspecting and testing materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications are met.
  • Collaborating with operations managers to develop and implement controls and improvements.
  • Ensuring that workflows, processes, and products comply with safety regulations.
  • Identify and help facilitate continuous improvement, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Investigating and troubleshooting product or production issues.
  • Developing corrective actions, solutions, and improvements.
  • Reviewing codes, specifications, and processes.
  • Leads in performing FMEAs for processes and products under development and/or qualification
  • Help streamline processes to improve processes at the Contract Manufacturers, 3rd part  manufacturer.
  • Able to build out dashboards and hold data review across different organizations to help improve processes, influence product design and help drive cost down efforts
  • Will play a key role in ISO-9001 readiness across the company and capability to work autonomously with good judgement.
  • Design and implement robust tooling/fixture solutions to improve process control and production throughput
  • Provide mediation between CMs, critical sub-tier suppliers, and Markforged internal teams to address competing priorities and resolve issues to achieve Markforged production requirements
  • Work closely and cooperatively with Operations Engineering, Hardware, Software, Operations, Product, Supply Chain, Customer Solutions, and Marketing to ensure project alignment and success throughout life-cycle
  • Serve as a manufacturing lead on one or more major Markforged product families, and drive sustaining engineering activities, coordinate engineering change cut-ins, manage build state record system 
  • Drive accountability with internal and external stakeholders on project deliverables

What you have:

  • Passion for manufacturing, automation and continuous improvement
  • Sharp analytical and mechanical mindset with a desire to apply them toward real-world manufacturing problems
  • Strong analytical, statistics, and problem solving skills.
  • Experience with production best practices such as LEAN, Kaizen, 5S, and Six Sigma
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving electromechanical issues on a production assembly and test line
  • Ability to independently lead cross-functional projects to completion
  • 2-5 years related product-based electromechanical experience
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills - can convey complex technical topics in simple terms across internal departments and external partners
  • Not afraid to challenge the status quo and regularly offers their own ideas
  • Comfortable with issue escalation when appropriate
  • Extremely motivated and organized individual who can be self-directed in both team-based and individual settings
  • Works well in a fast-paced dynamic  environment
  • Experience with supplier quality 
  • Willingness to travel 30-40% both domestically and internationally
