Our Opportunity:

Chewy is hiring a PHP Engineer to work on our engineering team in Boston, MA. You will be delivering solutions on a team with design and development responsibilities while working on high scale systems.

What you'll do:

You will be responsible for design, coding, testing and debugging ecommerce software
You will be learning and participating in code and design reviews
Chewy will assign a mentor to help you ramp up after which you will be helping improve our on-boarding process for new engineers
You will build awesome software

What you'll need:

You must be proficient in PHP and MySQL
Working knowledge of AWS
Knowledge of an object-oriented language such as Java or Scala
Proficiency in Computer Science fundamentals – object oriented design, data structures, algorithm - design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
Sharp analytical abilities and design skills
Strong background with modern tools and environments (e.g., XML, web services, version control systems, bug/issue tracking tools)
Position may require travel

Bonus:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics or Electrical Engineering
Knowledge of Scrum, XP or other agile methodologies a plus.
Good communication skills with both technical and business people.
Experience in web technologies such as JavaScript, JQuery, AJAX and HTML5
A working knowledge of optimization algorithms (e.g., linear programming) and mathematical modeling a plus.

Being an entry-level engineer doesn’t mean working on entry-level projects. Recently, Shinde, an engineer on the delivery experience team, created an API that connects customer’s queries with shipment statuses, a project that could have a significant impact on Chewy’s bottom line.
