Operations Engineer
Based on the evolving situation with Covid-19 we are mostly remote, this includes the hiring process. We are in the process of moving to a hybrid of onsite and remote with some positions remaining 100% remote.

The Operations Engineer will join the Data Quality and Monitoring & Data Discovery team of a high-growth population health and analytics software company, reporting to the Data Operations manager. In this role you'll create enterprise level solutions that give customers equal partnership in the delivery and processing of timely, high-quality healthcare data through Arcadia's data pipeline.
In this position you will positively affect patient care as part of a team whose mission is to ensure Arcadia is capturing and processing records and that these records are consistently and reliably available for use.
By combining an understanding of our customer's needs with existing data quality challenges, you'll create self-service solutions that promptly identify data quality issues, provide autonomous solutions, all while delivering transparent and comprehensive insights that allow customers to know their information is current, and what they can expect.
This role involves a balance between technical expertise and communication skills, with creative design thinking and getting things done. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of ownership, a collaborative spirit, and the drive to improve and succeed as a team.
What Success Looks Like
In 3 months- Get to know Arcadia's culture and embrace it- Proactively identify and build relationships with your stakeholders- Become an expert of the operational and mechanical aspects of the Data Operations team with the aim of using this foundation to develop autonomous solutions
In 6 months- Use your creative and strategic thinking to improve current processes and to identify new opportunities to streamline and automate operational tasks- Develop pilot solutions that automate operational tasks and reporting for consistent and reliable delivery
In 12 months- Deliver comprehensive stand-alone cloud-based solutions that address data quality and date pipeline concerns- Be a subject matter expert in your area of interest- Provide in-team expertise and coverage- Be an active part of the Arcadian community
What You'll Be Doing
- Gain an in depth understanding of Arcadia's data pipeline and will have a hands-on role in a wide range of activities that include alert monitoring and resolution, reporting, troubleshooting, and most importantly, a role on developing enterprise level solutions that address these areas on a holistic level.
- Follow standard operating procedures to identify, resolve, report-on, and provide feedback on data pipeline concerns including ingress, transform, extract, and data quality alerts; SQL loading jobs; AWS S3 data replications; and database extracts.
- Develop and deliver reliable and accurate reporting for live production sources relating to freshness of warehouse and replica database records; address data quality concerns and record gaps; handle decommissioning aspects of termed or migrated sources; identify ETL issues related to database connections and SQL loading jobs; and occasionally will work directly with customers to address data quality concerns.
- Use your expertise in developing cloud-based solutions to translate the mechanical aspects of these activities into autonomous and highly scalable solutions that quickly identify failure modes, facilitate timely conversations, and inform a reliability program aimed at optimizing both the speed of data ingress and the quality of that data.
What You'll Bring

- Understanding of end-to-end data flow and data pipelines
- Understanding of data analysis and data quality principles
- Proficiency querying and manipulating relational databases with SQL
- Proficiency with Python, R, or other scripting language
- Experience analyzing healthcare data (claims and/or clinical)
- Ability and willingness to consistently support operational tasks, and proactively streamline and/or automate them for consistent and reliable delivery
- Ability and willingness to create, improve, and maintain the team's technical library, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and requirement specifications.
- A cloud-based certification, preferably AWS.
Would Love For You To Have
- Experience developing and delivering persistent, standalone, and automated cloud-based solutions, ideally with AWS.
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C01) or higher (Solutions Architect Associate (SAA-CO2), Developer Associate (DVA-C01), SysOps Administrator Associate (SOA-CO1))
- Familiarity with Git or other version control platforms
- Experience creating stored procedures and scheduling jobs using the SQL Server agent
- Experience with an Agile environment
- Experience with value-based care models
- Experience using collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence
- Familiarity with reliability engineering concepts, and ideally experience participating in or leading a reliability initiative to identify failure modes alongside reliability measurements like mean-time-between-failure (MTBF)
