As a Metallurgical Research Scientist, you will be responsible for the developing and characterization of new materials for 3D printing. Specifically, we are looking for experts in Tool Steels and in Titanium.

In this role, you will be:

  • Developing materials and processes for 3D printing metals
  • Performing material characterization and analysis
  • Designing and executing experiments to evaluate and optimize material properties
  • Researching failure behaviors in printed materials and troubleshooting solutions
  • Working with the rest of the materials team, and more broadly in the company, to tune formulations, printers, and ovens

Qualifications:

  • Expert in Tool Steels and/or Titanium
  • Ph.D in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Problem-solving attitude and aptitude
  • Demonstrated ability to scan a technology landscape and then quickly delve into the most important aspects
  • Team-centric, collaborative approach
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Experience:

  • Powdered metallurgy
  • Metal Injection Molding (MIMs)
  • High-performance materials
  • Mechanical, electrochemical, and electrical properties
