JOB DESCRIPTION: 

 

Job Qualifications:

Participate as a member of an Integrated Product Team responsible for the design, fabrication and testing of mechanical systems for UAVs.  Work throughout the development life cycle from initial requirements definition, system trade studies and concept development to detailed design, prototype, manufacture, integration and test.

This position requires attention to detail, multi-tasking ability, and disciplined follow-up. The ideal candidate must be analytical while using acquired experience to work pragmatically, capable of working within deadlines, demonstrate high standards, thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, and work with minimal supervision.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

Design and analyze UAV mechanical systems, subsystems and components including control surfaces, actuation systems, landing gear, brakes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, ground service equipment, etc.; determine requirements to meet customer specifications; conduct trade studies and analyses; prepare documentation for design reviews; prepare drawings for manufacturing and assembly; develop design validation procedures; develop design validation test plans; conduct design validation tests; analyze test data and prepare test reports.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5 years of professional experience designing aerospace mechanical systems (this may be less in-lieu of a higher degree)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • Experience with CAD software and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Hands-on experience working with machine shops, specifying fasteners, bearings, and other hardware.

  • Must be a US Citizen.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Master’s degree

  • CATIA proficiency

  • MATLAB coding experience

  • Experience with integrating prototype aircraft

  • Conducting hardware performance tests.

  • Experience with finite element analysis, multi-body dynamics analysis, or thermal analysis.
