SharkNinja is looking for a highly-motivated Mechanical Engineer to join the R&D team within Ninja Engineering. We seek a creative problem solver who possesses an intuitive grasp of physics and engineering fundamentals, is equally comfortable hacking together a prototype in the lab or analyzing the results of a test, and is passionate about solving the tough engineering challenges required to be the first to deliver innovative new cooking products to market.

The R&D team researches and develops new technologies and integrates them into new products. We aren’t building your grandma’s toaster oven here – innovating in the kitchen means new ideas and new solutions must be invented to push the boundaries of cooking. Our Mechanical Engineers are responsible for developing these innovative new technologies. They design and build prototypes, run tests to gather data, analyze results, and develop theories that may be referenced in product development here for years to come – or overturned with tomorrow’s test results as they build an even deeper understanding of how things work.

This role is involved heavily at the front-end of the product development cycle, but also supports products all the way up to mass production, continuously working to push performance beyond what was previously thought achievable. The Mechanical Engineer will work collaboratively with other engineers in R&D as well as other disciplines ranging from Electrical Engineering to Product Marketing. The focus of this role is technology R&D, but every member of the team can also impact every aspect of a product’s design ranging from how it’s assembled to how it’s marketed. We’re all product developers and consumers here, and we don’t have any boundaries in the pursuit of making amazing, 5-star-rated products.

Attributes & Skills:

• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering/physics fundamentals including heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mechanical design
• Solid analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and relentless drive to identify potential problems and take responsibility for their resolution
• Natural curiosity, positive attitude, and proven ability to deliver robust, elegant, and innovative solutions to complex design challenges
• Ability to quickly, effectively, and concisely communicate with both technical and non-technical colleagues both verbally and in writing
• Comfortable multitasking and responding quickly to shifting priorities without losing sight of longer-term projects and goals

Qualifications:

• BS or MS in Engineering (Mechanical or similar discipline)
• 1-3 years of related experience in product design and development
• Experience with hands-on prototype development in plastic and metal including using basic machine shop tools and 3D Printing
• Experience with electronics (analog/digital), test equipment, and components common in small appliances (sensors, motors, heaters, PCBAs, etc.)
• Familiarity with production processes such as injection molding and sheet metal forming, as well as prototyping techniques such as 3D printing and laser cutting
• Proficient CAD user (Solidworks preferred)
• Advanced skills in using Excel to generate graphs and charts from test data
• Passion for cooking and food is a plus!
