The Manager, Solution Engineering role is a leadership player/coach position where the individual is expected to be an expert in all things Devo; a leading voice and advocate in selling Devo to customers, as well a true thought-leader in removing all technical obstacles during the sales cycle. The Manager, Solution Engineering will contribute to territory and account strategy as well as lead our North American SE team. To be successful in this role, the manager will build and maintain a team of highly talented and motivated Solution Engineers, and maintain strong relationships with Regional Sales Managers, Sales Leadership, and key client stakeholders.

This is a remote position (East Coast hours preferred), and will report directly to our global solution engineering leader and will require travel within the United States, including conference attendance. Flexibility in work schedule may be required to accommodate the customer and the needs of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • You will coach, enable and empower a team of experienced Solution Engineers
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to attract, hire and retain top talent to support our rapid growth
  • Coach an outstanding Solution Engineering team to deliver against assigned goals
  • Manage individual and team performance, ensuring that we are taking the necessary actions to maintain high levels of performance
  • Strengthen the team by setting shared goals, information sharing, and establishing mentoring relationships
  • Ramp-up newer members of the team on rules of engagement, building a relationship with their sales colleagues, technical training, and empowering them to become self-sufficient
  • Develop and mentor your team to help them achieve their career goals
  • Put your individual contributor hat on when needed, engage with customers, and help formulate strategies for target accounts
  • Evangelize the Devo vision to customers and prospects at all levels, from technical to C-suite
  • Partner with other groups to help us continue our tradition of an outstanding customer experience and industry leading customer retention
  • Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong management consulting skills to influence thinking or gain acceptance of multiple customer constituencies
  • Work to improve the Devo sales methodology and processes effectively, including development of product presentations and demonstrations tailored to suit the level and nature of the audience
  • Assess gaps in evolving training needs and then create and implement programs to improve sales, product and technology skills of the Sales Engineering team
  • Work with Regional Sales Managers on account planning, strategy and sales call activity
  • Provide timely and insightful input back to other corporate functions, particularly field sales, product management and marketing
  • Manage relationships with product teams & decision makers both internally and externally

Qualifications:

  • Strong past professional experience leading sales engineering teams, ideally in the cyber security industry, or a tenured sales engineer with experience as technical lead
  • Strong, related technical background in cyber security - such as SIEM, endpoint, network security, incident response, or related disciplines
  • Proven track record of mentoring and developing team members and guiding them to success
  • Solid sales acumen, and ability to partner with account teams to drive new customer sales as well as add-on revenue
  • Lead from the front style, and ability to roll up your sleeves and get technical
  • You can thrive in a fast paced, high energy environment
  • Ability to work independently, adapt quickly and maintain a positive attitude
  • Proven ability to command a room, lead complex technical and business conversations with C-suite executives, as well as technical staff
