WHY WE NEED YOU


The hardware validation lead working with our quality and hardware engineering teams will​ oversee and grow our global hardware validation and reliability efforts, ultimately ensuring that Hydrow continues to deliver top quality fitness equipment to our members. This is a hands-on role where you will understand the product and use your understanding to create reliability test plans and execute tests with our partners and on in-house test equipment. 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH


  • First Thirty Days

  • Learn about Hydrow’s current validation program which consists of equipment and teams in Cambridge, MA, Taiwan and China. Immerse yourself in the Hydrow hardware and subsystems to understand how they function and interact. 
  • Oversee the day-to-day execution of ongoing and new testing including management of test systems, data and devices under test (DUT). 
  • Prepare and report on test progress and results.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on test equipment.
  • Begin developing an overall program for seamlessly maintaining and logging all global validation activities.
  • Be the key point person to present reliability/validation test progress and results to the Hydrow team.
  • First Three Months

  • Consult with development teams on the appropriate test and qualification plans for engineering changes and new product introduction (NPI) activities.
  • Conduct first level failure analysis of defective components from the field. Develop and execute a cohesive and all encompassing maintenance plan for the test equipment alongside the teams in Taiwan and China. 
  • Work with equipment vendors to maintain, troubleshoot, modify and program test equipment.
  • First Six Months

  • Lead the development of new test equipment from conception through implementation, including budgeting and project management.
  • Develop and report on a set of KPIs to track the performance of the validation program. 
  • Propose and drive improvements to Hydrow’s overall validation and reliability program, optimizing for technical effectiveness and overall cost. 
  • Collaborate with hardware engineering and quality to develop a failure analysis program.
  • Develop formal procedures that define proper test execution, maintenance and safety practices
  • Along with the hardware development teams, conduct reliability analysis and set performance targets.
  • Participate in DFMEA’s & PFMEA’s with development teams and lead the definition of test specifications to validate and verify the outputs as needed.
  • Become the subject matter experts to identify testing and validation needs for new designs and changes.
  • Perform statistical analysis of testing and field performance results and clearly communicate results to stakeholders.
  • Perform reliability prediction of failure mechanisms on products under development and products in the field.

WHO YOU ARE


  • Technical Knowledge & Skills: You bring overall passion and experience in product validation and/or reliability engineering. You have the foundation of basic programming experience in Python or C++ as well as experience working with basic motion system controls to manage and troubleshoot motion controls in your day to day, should you feel you are at an advanced level, we would gladly welcome your expertise!


    The team seeks a confident engineer whose advanced knowledge in applying HALT, HASS, MTBF, Packaging and Transportation Test Standards and 8D processes will allow us to advance.


    You are confident in working autonomously and bringing best practices from reliability prediction methodology to understand and model product performance using tools such as Telcordia, MIL and Six-Sigma approaches.

  • Your overall familiarity and comfort level with
  • Electrical & Mechanical Stress Testing, Environmental Stress Testing, Fatigue Testing, Vibration and Shock Testing and common manufacturing techniques / technologies.
  • Varied industry test standards such as ASTM, ISO/TS, etc. 
  • Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • You are extremely hands-on and comfortable with basic hand tools and diagnostic equipment.


    Communication & Team Collaboration: Teamwork! Excellent communication skills and enjoy cross-functional collaboration. Willingness to travel to spend significant time in the Cambridge validation lab and travel to Asia once conditions allow. You are open and welcome a flexible schedule with the ability to attend night meetings with partners in Asia and the occasional weekend check-in. Experience working with APAC partners a plus.
