In support of Humana’s vision to create simple, personalized and reliable experience for our healthcare customers, we are embarking on the legacy application Modernization journey. One of the key strategic initiatives of the Modernization is transformation of mainframe workloads to the Cloud. 

We are looking for a Cloud Architect to lead technical planning, architecture development, and modification of specifications. Cloud Architect assesses the compatibility and integration of mainframe applications for the proposed as standards in order to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent applications works efficiently, advises leadership to develop modernization strategies and build specifications for new services and cloud native applications in alignment with the enterprise architecture standards.

Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision. Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help modernize the legacy to Cloud native solutions at Humana. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Responsibilities

The Lead Cloud Architect will be responsible for: 

• Driving iterative modernization efforts analyzing the mainframe applications, determining “as is” architecture, dependencies, and other factors impacting migration to the Cloud designing “to be” architecture 

• Define the current application architecture, refine application architecture to meet the organization’s changing business requirements 

• Redesign application architecture to be more cost-effective, including the optimal selection of platform, package implementation practices, and skills for application delivery success 

• Ability to manage vendor applications and vendor relationships and to keep big picture in mind with layered architecture approaches 

• Integrate each application solution into the broader business and IT ecosystem within which it will operate 

• Providing technical leadership to the application development team and guiding them to adopt agile development, DevSecOps practices, APIs and micro-services etc. 

• Performing design and code reviews 

• Create and maintain application architecture deliverables and artifacts and iteratively improve architectural approaches, design, and development processes and approaches 

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field 

• 5 or more experience as an architect, prior Cloud Native architecture experience 

• Systems thinking - the ability to see how parts interact as the whole (big picture thinking) and along with implementation experience 

• Modeling interfaces, Systems Integration & Messaging including data replication designs 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Any Cloud Architect certificate (Azure preferred) 

• Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experience
