Position Summary:
The LMTS, Release Operations will identify, facilitate, and implement changes to the Atlassian environment as well as to our internal deployment tools and processes. They will leverage their technical knowledge of Atlassian in order to support an evolving environment by providing best practices, maintenance and investigation of new tooling and methodologies to achieve desired business goals. They will work with other members of the RPR organization to integrate and automate Atlassian functionality across the corporate toolchain.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

50% Manage the Atlassian Stack

  • Utilize experience delivering commercial software products and knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to creatively address complex problems
  • Administer and manage workflows in Jira, Confluence, BitBucket and other release related tools
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and waste reduction including the creation of validators and post function automations.
  • Make enhancements to metrics capturing and reporting capabilities both internal and external to the Atlassian toolchain
  • Partner with cross functional teams to ensure compliance with Atlassian processes and workflows

20% Develop and Automate Internal Tooling

  • Partner with other members of RPR to improve automation of deployment activities and reporting capabilities
  • Develop processes to integrate the Atlassian environment with other internal tools and systems through the use of plugins and APIs
  • Automate and maintain regression and test environments

15% Cross functional Coordination and Communication

  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional team members and business stakeholders to ensure alignment and consistency in practices
  • Share business and technical learnings with the broader engineering and product organization, while adapting approach for different audiences

15% Mentorship of Others

  • Advise and train members of the team to maximize overall productivity and effectiveness
  • Assist more junior members with identifying correct, current or future processes within the team to ensure the success of release tasks
  • Onboard new users to the Atlassian stack and provide training for internal processes

Education, Experience, & Skills Required:

  • 6-8 years of release management/engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree welcome
  • Agile experience is required
  • Strong experience with Atlassian Products (Jira/Portfolio/Bit Bucket) required
  • Experience developing plugins and macros for Atlassian Products
  • Experience with automation tools such as Bamboo, Jenkins, ElectricFlow
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment models
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills: internally, client-facing, and with senior management
  • Knowledge of one of the modern programming languages such as: C#, C++, Perl, Java, Python, and javascript/jQuery
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux, Big Data, SQL, NOSQL, and various other technologies
  • Experience in defining and measuring team success via data-driven metrics & reporting
