This is a player/coach role as much as it is a people management and project management role. You’re expected to be hands-on with security research and to understand all of the research on the team at a deeply technical level. You should have name recognition as well as a significant body of public work including presentation experience at prominent technical security conferences.

Responsibilities:

• Manage, develop, and collaborate with the CA Veracode Labs research team
• Conceptualize, scope, and execute on security research projects across a wide range of security topics
• Manage project budgets, priorities, timelines, milestones, and deliverables
• Produce public-facing artifacts (e.g. whitepapers, tools, presentations) that can be used to drive interest in these projects
• Collaborate with PR and marketing on editorial timelines and other activities related to releasing and promoting research deliverables and artifacts
• Promote your team’s research by speaking at industry conferences and engaging visibly on social media and/or in other public forums

Skills & Requirements:

You should love tackling difficult problems, and you should be able to learn quickly and independently, including technologies that you’ve had no past experience with. It’s also crucial that you’re effective at both verbal and written communication to diverse audiences. Above all, you should be creative and motivated with genuine enthusiasm, not just aptitude, for security research. We’ll expect you to bring interesting, relevant project ideas to the table.

Other things we’re looking for:

• 3+ years of experience managing and leading technical teams; prior experience leading a security research group a plus
• 5-10 years of practical security work experience or equivalent hobbyist portfolio, in areas such as (but not limited to) software/hardware auditing, penetration testing, vulnerability research, reverse engineering, threat modeling, SDLC, DFIR, etc.
• Prototyping ability, i.e. enough coding skills to hack together quick and dirty tools to solve a problem or demonstrate feasibility
• Seasoned, articulate public speaker, with professional demeanor and experience presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences at prominent industry conferences
• Press/media experience
• Excellent attention to detail and quality
• Strong analytical, organizational, and technical writing skills
• Desire and ability to collaborate with other researchers at CA Veracode or external researchers
