We are looking for a thoughtful, successful, and driven Director of Engineering to lead and build our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be respected for their engineering skills, interested in people management, and have the right mix of strength and humility to be able to stand up for their ideas while collaborating with others. The Director of Engineering will report directly to the CEO.

Role and Responsibilities

• Hire, inspire, mentor, train, and grow our engineering team
• Represent the engineering team’s perspective when setting product development requirements
• Establish best practices and tools to set technical direction for the development team
• Provide technical guidance to development team and executive team
• Set long term architectural vision and contribute to development, deployment, security, and scalability of current and future products
• Monitor and track team and individual performance to identify areas of strength and opportunities for growth
• Coach direct reports and provide performance feedback and strategies for improvement
• Collaborate with peers and senior executives to accomplish key goals

Position Requirements

• Computer Science or equivalent engineering degree
• Demonstrated expertise in Ruby on Rails, Angular or React, MySQL, and Amazon AWS products
• Minimum 8 years full-time professional experience as a software developer
• Minimum 4 years of experience in management and/or as a team lead
• Strong leadership, communication and project management skills
• Highly organized, detail oriented, and process driven
• Demonstrated experience reviewing, pull requests, training, and mentoring a team
• Excited by the prospect of building a team and continually refining our processes to maximize team productivity and transparency within the organization
