As part of the nation’s central bank, the Boston Fed shares responsibility for carrying out the Federal Reserve’s dual mandate – to promote price stability and maximize employment. The Research Department plays a key role in carrying out this mission by supporting the bank president’s role in the formulation of U.S. monetary policy and conducting original, empirical research on a wide range of economic and public policy topics. As a member of the tech team serving Research, the DevOps Engineer contributes to the achievement of the Fed's core mission. This is a hybrid role between infrastructure engineering and data engineering. Research IT Support provides on-premise high-performance computing capabilities, cloud-native analytics platforms, storage back ends, and other technical resources to the department. The Research Department also collaborates with counterparts at other regional banks as well as the Board of Governors. The incumbent will use significant creativity and personal judgement in serving the department's evolving technology needs. Responsibilities- Builds AWS resources using cloud-native thinking
- Develops infrastructure-as-code
- Builds and maintains scalable computing infrastructure in the cloud
- Migrates applications from on-prem infrastructure to AWS
- Automates application deployments to make updates while maintaining high availability
- Builds and maintains data infrastructure
- Assists in architecting and implementing data lakes and data marts
- Designs and maintains relational database deployments
- Writes data pipelines-as-code to integrate data from multiple source systems into data repositories optimized for analytics
- Monitors ETL pipelines, addresses production issues, communicates with data vendors to address data delivery and structural problems
- Conducts IT risk assessment, compliance reviews, contingency planning and assessment activities
Qualifications- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Computer Science or related field
- Relevant internship or full-time experience and AWS certifications preferred
