About You:
You want to build software that lets people effortlessly turn their ideas into reality.

 You have a deep understanding of software architecture, computational algorithms, and 3d visualization. Bonus points if you have contributed to any of the open source slicer or 3d printer firmware projects. You’re hungry to work for a fast-paced startup. But most importantly, you want to build the next generation to 3d printing software.

About the Position:
Desktop Metal has an opportunity for an experienced individual to fill the role of 3d printing software architect. In this position, the successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring a our customers can seamlessly turn digital models and physical parts. The 3d printing software architect will also be working hand in hand with engineers pioneering new 3d printing processes. This is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to join an exciting dynamic startup that is experiencing significant growth.

Responsibilities

  • Designing printing software architecture
  • Implementation of new tool path algorithms
  • Manipulation of 3d models to optimize for printing
  • Coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams to identify bugs and test new functionality

Basic Qualifications

  • Previous work with slicer codebases (Cura, Slic3r, Simplify3D, etc)
  • C++
  • Python
  • Clipper 2D polygon library
  • JSON data structure knowledge
  • Knowledge of GCODE machine control language

Preferred Experiences

  • Javascript
  • ThreeJS and/or OpenGL
  • NodeJS, Meteor, MongoDB
  • Knowledge of CNC CAM software
  • Embedded Firmware for 3D printers
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling
