We are looking for a junior Software Engineer that loves to write clean and concise code to craft software prototypes of new research concepts. You will work in small, tightly-knit teams of scientists and engineers implementing novel applications. Projects will range across machine learning, probabilistic reasoning, big data, information fusion, natural language processing, cybersecurity, and web applications. As a Software Engineer in Decision Management Systems, you will collaborate in teams of scientists and software developers to translate research concepts into software implementations. Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • Experience with multiple languages such as Java, Scala, Python, or C/C++ and a mastery of at least one
  • Experience implementing solutions using machine learning, causal reasoning, natural language processing, knowledge representation and reasoning, search and optimization, or algorithms from related research areas in artificial intelligence
  • Experience tackling complex data processing challenges, such as big data, distributed systems
  • Expertise in functional and object-oriented programming principles and techniques
  • Superior creative and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Keen to learn more about new languages and frameworks
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, demonstrating the ability to keep your teammates informed
  • Demonstration of code samples (e.g., GitHub, GitLab, work sample assignment response)
  • Relevant internships, co-op, or industry experience
  • U.S. Citizenship

Preferred Requirements:

  • An advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or concentration in artificial intelligence
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (i.e. TensorFlow, PyTorch)
  • Experience with cybersecurity related challenges (malware analysis, reverse engineering, vulnerability detection)
  • Experience with predictive health maintenance challenges
  • Experience with web-based application development, including responsive front-side technologies (i.e. AngularJS, React, ES6 Javascript) and scalable back-end services
  • Experience with mobile application development on Android, iOS
  • Experience with probabilistic models or probabilistic programming
  • Experience working on many projects of various sizes, individually and as part of a team
  • Experience using Docker, Docker Swarms or Kubernetes in scalable and distributed environments
  • Experience with agile development processes
