The Workplace Experience, Employee Relations Specialist is a confidential position that will be an integral member of ActBlue’s People & Culture team and will report to and work closely with the Workplace Experience Director, a senior leader.

In this role, you will aid and facilitate employee relations processes for efficiency and compliance, in service of our organization. You will also be responsible for providing support to the workplace experience function as needed, leading key projects and processes including employee engagement, onboarding, exit interviews, leaves, and investigations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Serve as the initial contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee complaints.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Update and maintain employee handbook as needed, ensuring compliance with union contracts and evolving expectations. 
  • Conduct exit interviews to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.
  • Oversee multi-state leave management processes, including FMLA, disability, and other leaves of absence.
  • Manage the employee accommodation request process, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies.
  • Assist managers and employees in navigating performance management by providing guidance and support throughout the process.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
  • Develop and enhance employee relations processes for efficiency and compliance.
  • Address diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) concerns in employee relations, fostering an inclusive workplace culture.
  • Recommend and manage employee relations systems for compliance, including ensuring regular anti-harassment and anti-discrimination training occurs org-wide.
  • Facilitate training sessions for managers and employees on employee relations topics and compliance requirements.
  • Draft and distribute internal communications related to employee relations announcements.
  • Undergo cross-training in Labor Relations to serve as a backup for the Labor Relations Specialist during their absence, ensuring continuity in union contract management, compliance, negotiations, and committee responsibilities.
  • Manage the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and other employee resources, ensuring employees have access to support services and programs.
  • Work across the People and Culture team to develop and execute employee relations policies and strategies.
  • Serve as a trusted source for Employee Relations issues, providing guidance and support to managers on employee relations matters.
  • Lead employee relations projects and implementation.
  • Maintain Workplace Experience (WPE) internal wiki pages (Confluence).
  • Maintain strict confidentiality at all times with respect to nonpublic ActBlue information, including personal-sensitive information.
  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
  • Support supplementary projects as assigned, ensuring timely and efficient completion in line with organizational objectives and standards.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • 3-5 years of work experience in Employee Relations.
  • Experience conducting investigations and resolving employee complaints.
  • Proven understanding of human resources principles, practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to handle a high level of sensitive and confidential information, maintaining confidentiality and always exercising discretion.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and metrics related to employee relations.
  • Excellent organizational skills, project management skills, and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills, and commitment to collaborate with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to influence and coach managers on employee relations matters.
  • Time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to build processes and procedures and identify opportunities for efficiency.

LOCATION AND COMPENSATION: 

This posting is for a full-time, remote, salaried position. Our roles predominantly require availability during established business hours (Mon-Fri).Travel may be required on a limited basis to attend all-staff and departmental retreats (1-2 times per year). Additional travel may be required for select positions. ActBlue is currently authorized to support remote work employees in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C., Wisconsin and Wyoming. 

Work Environment: Employees can expect to work with distributed teams across all U.S. time zones. Our roles require extended technology usage, and proficiency with virtual communication tools such as Zoom and Slack. Regular attendance in virtual meetings is inherent to every position.

Salary Range Details:

Salary Range: $81,350 - $99,400

ActBlue is committed to consistent compensation practices across our organization.  Final salary offers will take into account factors such as candidate experience, interview performance and current team salary parity.
