Position Summary:
 
Provide department oversight and strategic vision for athenahealth’s Technology Services group.  The Technology Services group is responsible for engineering, operationalizing, and supporting solutions which enable or enhance our end-user experience.  This position will assume oversight of all US and India-based corporate technology teams including network and telephony, server administration, endpoint, and A/V technology.

Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): 
 
40% [Primary Function]

  • Provide managerial oversight of the following teams; Solutions Architecture, Technical Operations, Identity and Access Management, Technical Project Management, and Enterprise Support
  • Implement company’s refreshed cloud-centric infrastructure and application program
  • Work with athenahealth’s SLT and team managers to set strategic vision and roadmap for above-mentioned areas
  • Champion and drive technology initiatives which help athenahealth employees be more successful
  • Ownership of Technology Services department $7M+ budget
  • Ensure compliance of SOX, HITRUST, and PCI regulations

30%

  • Develop a strong managed services partnership to streamline procurement and asset management where possible
  • Implement new India-based Solutions Architecture and Technical Operations teams
  • Actively engage in information security and risk discussions to ensure timely remediation of known vulnerabilities
  • Cultivate an environment of highly automated and extensible platforms and tools
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to Technology Services management team, including quarterly and annual performance management tasks

  •  Foster an environment of continuous learning and cross-teaching amongst direct and indirect reports
  • Maintain pulse on department engagement results, foster areas of strength and identify efforts to enhance areas of weakness
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by proactively seeking opportunity to reduce CapEx and OpEx across department
  • Foster a sense of unity and teamwork across multiple global geographies

Education & Experience Required:

  • 10+ years relevant Information Technology experience
  • 5+ years in Information Technology management
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required (Information Technology related preferred)
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWS preferred
  • Experience with Managed Services Partnership preferred
  • Experience in 5000+ end user environment preferred
  • Experience with regulatory compliance such as SOX, HITRUST, or PCI
  • Experience managing in Agile and/or DevOps environment preferred

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Demonstrate a high degree of customer service
  • Demonstrate proven track record of successfully implementing portfolio of technology projects
  • Demonstrate mastery of annual budget and strategy planning
  • Demonstrate effective communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and communicate potential conflicts to SLT
  • Ability to train and mentor IT managers
  • Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative and flexibility in team goal orientation in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Ability to be flexible and change with environment, industry, and business demands
