We are looking for an experienced Director of Engineering with a blend of leadership and technical knowledge to lead a team of talented developers. The Director will also partner with Leadership and the Product Team to understand Paint Nite’s vision and execute on our key technology objectives in a timely manner.

You will:

  • collaborate with our Executive Leadership to understand the goals of the business, and drive that vision for the Company by prioritizing the critical objectives for our Tech Team
  • lead a team of seven developers; through providing mentorship and resources when needed
  • measure the Team’s performance by creating metric based goals, tied directly to development and quality, for the team to strive for
  • track development timelines, and negotiates feature sets with the Product Team
  • define the technical direction for the product
  • set code standards and ensure quality and production ready code
  • deliver quality results within rapid build and release cycles
  • work with the Director of QA & DevOps to ensure quality releases
  • ensure the software we produce meets best practices for quality, security, modifiability, and extensibility
  • be the voice of the Tech Team; communicating effectively with technical and non-technical staff
  • participate in production support & site support response as necessary

You have:

  • experience leading a small to mid-sized team of developers and a proven leadership ability and evidence of positively influencing cross-functional teams
  • partnered with senior leadership to understand the Company’s vision and identify the priorities your team must execute to achieve business objectives
  • 8+ years of Full-Stack Web Development experience
  • experience with a modern JavaScript framework (preferably React)
  • experience with SQL Databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.
  • comfort with multiple styles of API: SOAP, REST, and GraphQL
  • proficiency with Python and Node.js
  • experience with modern mobile web technologies, approaches and concepts, such as responsive and adaptive web design, React, Webpack, SASS, and PostCSS.
  • a deep understanding of the entire web development process, from brainstorming and design to implementation and launch
  • experience building business systems based on digital marketing and SEO, credit card processing,
  • product selection and purchase, accounting and reporting.
  • experience in an Agile environment (plus if experienced with Kanban).

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level.
