About the role

We’re looking for an experienced user experience research manager to join our team. Top candidates will be dynamic leaders, focused on strategic vision, growing talent and execution, practiced in coaching and mentoring, and adaptable in changing environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with product management, design leadership, and engineering leads to direct research initiatives that improve the quality and value of the HubSpot product experience.
  • Leads the HubSpot UX Research strategy
  • Educate stakeholders on the value of user experience research activities.
  • Provide mentorship, goal-setting and accountability to researchers. Look for ways to help each researcher upskill in their craft.
  • Coach the team to create compelling narratives and stories with their insights.
  • Shape the structure of the team in alignment with business objectives.
  • Deliver clarity, give direct and actionable feedback. Confront difficult situations head-on, increasing communication when there’s friction or uncertainty.
  • Screen and interview new candidates. Participate in cross-department recruiting and hiring.
  • Foster a sense of community and mission within the team and for the broad UX team. Responsible for thoughtful team organization, aligning strengths to problems and providing opportunities for career growth through additional responsibility or potential impact.
  • Evangelize product design and research at HubSpot and seeks ways to measure its impact. Educate stakeholders on the enterprise value of an enjoyable user experience.

A strong candidate will have:

  • 5+ years’ experience mentoring and leading a team of UX or product researchers.
  • Experience using a broad set of research methods like concept validation, usability testing, discovery research, design thinking workshops, and field methods.
  • Working knowledge of lean product design processes.
  • An inclusive, facilitative leadership style.
  • Experience working in highly collaborative environments with product managers, product designers, and engineers.
  • Strong coaching skills.
  • A curiosity to learn and take on new challenges in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience researching SaaS products, products built for marketing and sales audiences, or SMBs.
