User Experience (UX) Lead

At Abacus we believe in the profound value of great product User Experience. It often makes the difference between customers that are truly satisfied and those that are not. We are looking for an experienced and passionate UX Lead to define, grow, and lead the big picture Abacus Insights UX vision.
What to Expect:
- Develop deep contextual understanding of our customers, our users, and their needs.
- Work with the Product team to refine user personas and understand usability requirements.
- Work closely with the Product team to develop sitemaps, workflows, and wireframes for the Abacus Platform.
- Amplify the voice of UX at Abacus Insights and raise the design IQ across the company.
- Design intuitive user experiences for data-oriented, technical products and users.
- Work closely with engineering to ensure components and UIs are developed to spec.
- Work with System Architects to establish the Architectural/Technological Runway in support of upcoming user and business needs.
- Establish common modeling, design, and coding practices across the organization.
- Share and re-use ideas, components and proven design and implementation patterns where applicable.
- Support knowledge sharing between Teams.
- Identify opportunities, plan, coordinate, and carry-out usability testing on prototypes and implemented designs
- Reinforce a culture of collaboration in all directions with all stakeholder groups (Customer Success, Sales, Technical Support, etc), and with Executive Leadership
- Work with and solicit feedback from internal and external product stakeholders. Understand, advocate, and generate user insights; acts as the voice of the user in all interactions
- Interact with users through field research to understand their needs and pain points and then develop personas which convey those needs and product requirements to all stakeholders (some travel required)
- Work with end-users, customers, stakeholders, Product Managers, and Product Owners to maintain a high-level understanding of the current and upcoming User Experience requirements for the solution; translate business needs into Product UX strategy
What you’ll bring to the Abacus Team:
- 7+ years’ experience in a technology company, preferably SaaS or enterprise B2B
- Skillful knowledge of UX activities and process and know how to integrate them into an Agile environment
- Skillful knowledge of UX project planning and execution
- Ability to communicate the UX process and requirements to both technical and non-technical colleagues as well as senior executives
- Knowledge of how front-end (ex: CSS, JavaScript, HTML5) and back-end (ex: server and cloud) technologies constrain and enable UI solutions
- UX Software Proficiency: Adobe CC, Sketch, InVision, Balsamiq or equivalents
- Experience designing UIs with Design Systems and component libraries: Material Design, React Components,
- Knowledge of ROI methods for UX and business context of UX impact
- Ability to proactively recognize and resolve conflict through collaboration and consensus
- Ability to easily build new relationships and proactively establish a variety of contacts across the organization
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for both individuals and small groups; ability to clearly communicate and motivate teams toward a common goal
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads
- Attention to detail and a high degree of comfort with complex technical environments
- Excellent listening/speaking skills and respect for other’s opinions and ideas; invite decent
- Ability to coach and mentor team members
- Strong technical skills that enable you to engage productively with technical teams
