6 River Systems is disrupting a hundred billion dollar industry with a new approach to warehouse automation. Founded in 2015, we have developed a solution built on proprietary AI, mobile robots and cloud-based enterprise software. Our solution is half the cost of traditional automation and 2-3x faster than manual, cart pick operations.

Our culture is built on trust, smarts, and collaboration. We have a West Coast vibe with Northeast drive. As a team, we encourage open discussion about particularly challenging problems. We are as passionate about hiring the right people as we are about building great products.

Position Overview:

We’re looking for a talented User Experience design generalist who can understand and champion various types of B2B/commercial end-users and design solutions that are engaging, intuitive and drive results for both our customers and our business. You will be responsible for designing warehouse Associate experiences and user workflows that are easily digestible and executable. This is a hands-on role requiring a skill-set that spans all areas of design: analysis of user needs, the architecture of layouts, flows and interactions, and detailed aesthetics for both written and visual content. You should have experience working in a highly collaborative fashion with product managers, developers, and data analysts to prioritize, specify, and deliver high quality user experiences.

Our expectation is that you bring deep UX design experience, can learn quickly, and will work both independently and across the organization effectively. The ideal candidate will be able to grow with the company and take on additional leadership roles over time. This is a unique opportunity; you will have an immediate impact on the success and growth of our company.

This role reports to the Head of Product Management, and is an integral part of our fast growing Product team. This is an exciting opportunity to set and own a new creative direction for our company!

Key Activities:

  • Understand user goals, business goals, technology and design constraints to create a user experience that will deliver success
  • Prioritize, plan, and conduct user research, identify pain points and solutions, and develop user profiles
  • Produce information architectures, taxonomies, prototypes, and fully annotated wireframes and functional specifications that turn complex systems into clear and navigable applications for specialized personas; responsible for defining and documenting systems and interfaces from the perspective of the people who will use those systems
  • Lead cross-functional design reviews for all necessary deliverables - taking input/feedback from Stakeholders
  • Work closely with front-end developers and software engineers to ensure user-facing experiences meet our design standards
  • Support and influence product planning and prioritization
  • Establish design acceptance criteria for the product, and ensure that the implementation meets design standards

Position Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of Information Architecture and UX design experience - a big plus if you have B2B SAAS experience
  • Experience with designing industrial interfaces that make work-flow experiences simple and intuitive
  • Experience managing the design process from concept development to launch, and experience working as a designer supporting the evolution of an existing product
  • Proven experience translating user and business requirements into the structural design of highly intuitive and well-crafted interfaces and digital experiences; touchscreen experience a plus
  • Startup experience preferred
  • Experienced with UX/design focused methodologies such as LeanUX or AgileUX
  • Ability to discuss your work confidently, connecting it to larger strategic objectives as well as clearly articulating tactical and execution details
  • Ability to think strategically and tactically and make quick, data driven decisions/tradeoffs
  • Evidence of “scrappy startup execution” and “get it done”’ attitude, coupled with working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
