The Job

• Design features and projects that are the building blocks to our application
• Help drive and build a practical, consistent, and beautiful user interface
• Lead discussions to gather requirements from internal and external stakeholders
• Work closely with small functional squads from many facets of data science, engineering, product, and business to find elegant but practical solutions to design problems
• Be independent and have full ownership of your work as well as the responsibility for it at each step in the process
• Utilize solution-focused problem solving to think big picture, create many lo-fi solutions to one problem, observe their performance, iterate and distill on their results to find the best solution
• Embrace failure and continuously validate your designs in the real world

• You are a great designer with a pragmatic attitude towards design
• You understand that design is not simply a beautiful aesthetic
• You are comfortable with complex problems
• You’ve created and shipped numerous consumer products
• You understand what makes a great user experience and its relationship with great usability and interface design
• You have an absolute attention to detail for pixel perfect design
• You have the communication skills to help build frameworks and brainstorm initial concepts
• You have the ability to mentor others to deliver work and make strategy come to life
• Even though you are a great designer, you are constantly looking to improve designs through user feedback
• You have experience with user testing and you’re comfortable with applying results to your designs
• You have an updated portfolio that you can share with us
• You are able to provide a brief explanation in your application of why you are excellent for this role while highlighting your portfolio

Experience

• 3-5 years working as a professional UI/UX designer or equivalent
• Expert level using design software such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Suite, InVision, Balsamiq, etc
• Experience visualizing data
• Familiar with implementation practices and standards for your designs (HTML, CSS, JS)
• Ability to build/code your designs is a big plus
• Experience with data science & machine learning is a big plus
