Senior UX/UI Researcher – Robots
Overview
As a key member of the Consumer Insights team you will be responsible for delivering insights by using UX research methods to assess and validate new features and recommend changes to improve the SharkClean app experience. Your projects, insights and recommendations will help harmonize the physical Robotic floor cleaner with app-based functions and uncover meaningful UX/UI behaviors to help further delight consumers. You advocate for the SharkClean user.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the Voice of the Consumer in all aspects of App UX/UI development for Shark Robotics
- Design and execute user research to validate the SharkClean mobile app
- Must have experience using various app prototyping tools to conduct research (Figma, InVision, Origami)
- Recommend the best testing methodologies to maximize outputs, including writing protocols and surveys, recruiting users, moderating usability testing and exploratory interviews, etc.
- Perform analysis of feedback from interviews and surveys to deliver succinct summaries and highlight key learnings that build empathy for your users with clear and actionable insights
- Synthesize research results into actionable intelligence that can direct downstream design, development, and test objectives and influence upstream business strategy
- Create and manage customer journey maps (Figma, Miro, or similar tools)
- As needed, help teams prioritize testing for the Shark mobile app and see multiple concurrent projects through completion
- Support product development teams by strategizing the production of ‘blue sky’ design work by helping to translate high-level design concepts into viable ideas and content to conduct user research
- Communicate and coordinate with multiple project teams across various technical spaces—External UX design firms, App product team, Consumer Insights, Software Development, and Brand marketing
- Work collaboratively with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure the product roadmap is supported and realized
Desired Skills
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree
- 4 or more years of relevant experience in UX research, mobile app testing, and customer insights
- Expertise with primary user research methods such as usability testing, contextual inquiry, and ethnography
- Experience with remote user research methods, both moderated and unmoderated
- Proficiency with primary consumer and market research methods: interviews, competitive analysis, focus groups, surveys, questionnaires
- Capability with secondary research and analysis that supports programs and opens new avenues of inquiry like social media listening, analytics and workflow analysis, literature reviews, and statistical analysis
- Ability to unpack, breakdown, and process feature and design challenges of varying magnitudes and complexity
- Proficiency using UX tools and methodologies to conduct mobile-app testing and uncover meaningful UX/UI behaviors (Figma, Origami, Optimal Workshop, just to name a few)
- Seeks out and implements new research methods to grow the evolving UX researcher toolbox
- Looks to personal development by continuing their education and training in UX
- Demonstrated success uncovering and solving challenging mobile app-related customer issues in a dynamic business setting
- Proven ability of delivering high quality results and recommendations in a challenging environment
- Willingness to ask tough business questions and challenge the status quo while being comfortable with complexity and ambiguity
- Well-developed project management skills and ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and organize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ensures deadlines are met and proactively communicates roadblocks when they are at risk
- Proven ability to build relationships with multi-functional team
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written (presentations/emails) and personal interactions
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to complete tasks and identify solutions
- Vendor management experience
