Position Summary:

We’re looking for a senior designer with significant management experience to thoughtfully contribute to our award-winning electronic health record and physician practice management products. In this role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary agile R&D teams to set vision, create plans and drive execution of high quality solutions to complex problems that please users and provide business results.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

50% - Leadership (primary)

- Empower, energize and support teams to execute and drive meaningful results

- Coach your direct reports through effective goal setting, regular feedback, and networking

- Define and promote improvements to design and agile processes and quality standards

- Provide thought leadership on emerging design practices, both internally and externally

40% - Design strategy and planning

- Partner with product & engineering leads to set strategic direction for a substantial feature-set of a product across one or more project or product teams

- Lead or supervise the creation of journey maps and vision documents

- Develop foundational and user research hypotheses to meet project learning goals

- Contribute to deliverables for product release milestones, including product roadmaps, launch readiness reviews, and readouts to product leadership

- Influence the product backlog prioritization and planning activities

- Manage the backlog and prioritization of design work across feature-sets

- Collaborate on the definition and creation of success criteria and metrics

- Facilitate product and engineering teams in building deep empathy for our users

10% - Design execution

- Identify and frame user-centered problems effectively

- Plan and facilitate problem identification and solutioning workshops

- Create low- to high-fidelity sketches to communicate concepts and ideas

- Collaborate with product and engineering teams throughout the agile planning, design and development process to deliver released product that meets design intent

- Collaborate with your team to ensure product features meet UX quality standards for workflow, interaction design and microcopy

Education, Experience, & Skills Required

- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Computer Science, Business or related disciplines

- Minimum of 10 years of experience in UX design

- Minimum of 5 years of experience directly managing designers

- Deep knowledge of UX practices within Agile software development process, including UX ideation, design techniques, and incorporating user research and evaluative testing

- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Behaviors & Abilities Required:

- Create a team environment, with clear goals and roles, where members contribute independently and effectively to design simple, effective, and elegant interactions between users and products

- Lead complex improvement initiatives, providing coaching and mentorship on agile UX processes; measure and assess the effectiveness of agile UX methodologies and deliverables

- Coach others on quality of work, execution, and behaviors that create team success; drive a track record of success for the team

- Shape roles and assignments within the team in ways that utilizes and develops people’s capabilities

- Create incisive problem framings that immediately focus teams on the most important root causes while also encouraging exploration; guide business peers in setting appropriate problem scope for teams of varying size and capability.

- Articulate and inspire commitment to a vision and plan aligned with the organizational mission and goals

- Capable of managing ambiguity, change and uncertainty, focusing on information at hand and making good and timely decisions to effectively keep work moving forward; encourage the team to take appropriate risks through cost/benefit analysis of various alternatives

- Adapt to ever-changing needs of a dynamic business with flexibility and willingness to jump into any aspect of work to help the team achieve results
