Position Summary: The Instructional Design Associate will be responsible for developing new leading-edge learning experiences to effectively and efficiently educate our employee population. Must be passionate about designing engaging and innovative eLearning experiences for the professional development of athenahealth employees. Plan on submitting a work sample that demonstrates your graphic design and eLearning development skills with your resume on application.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

30% Instructional Design

  • Working with subject matter experts on a variety of topics to translate them into scalable, concise, impactful learning interventions
  • Applying the latest ideas, methods and technologies to ensure the best possible learning outcomes
  • Utilizing qualitative and quantitative data to design measurement into learning and improve outcomes and demonstrate effectiveness
  • Administering Learning Management Systems and Content Management Systems

70% eLearning Design and Delivery

  • Developing new leading-edge eLearning experiences to effectively and efficiently educate our employee population on a wide-range of topics, competencies and skills (using industry leading programs such as: Articulate 360 and HTML 5)
  • Collaborating closely with a team of talented ID’s, work with subject matter experts to enhance instructor-led training as well as create eLearning.
  • Project managing cross-functional projects related to eLearning development and learning technology deployment
  • Researching new technologies to improve learning experience and outcomes
  • Continuously reviewing and improving existing eLearning material
  • Designing supplemental materials such as job aids, workbooks, etc.

Education, Experience, & Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in instructional design strongly preferred
  • Master’s degree a plus
  • 3-5 years’ experience designing and developing for a variety of delivery modalities
  • Strong technology and instructional design skills
  • Familiarity with adult learning theory, ADDIE, SAM, Kirkpatrick, and game-based learning a must
  • Working knowledge of Articulate 360 (Storyline), Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and Camtasia a must. Visual and graphic design skills also a must
  • Familiarity with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Flash, and Agile are a plus
  • Creative, innovative, and flexible individual who loves the concept of finding new ways to teach adult learners
  • Collaborative team player with an aptitude for problem-solving and an acute eye for detail
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high energy environment
  • Capable of performing multiple different roles on concurrent projects
  • Excellent writing, communication, and copy editing skills
  • Healthcare industry experience a plus, but not required

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of an extended, cross-functional team
  • Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative and flexibility in team goal orientation in a fast pace, ever changing environment
