The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer solves complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

 

Responsibilities

 

Location: Louisville, KY; Boston, MA; Dallas, TX in office – open to work at home however strong preference for in office locations listed

 

The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer provides technical expertise, defines and applies the tools, technologies, applications and practices used to collect, integrate, analyze, and present raw data in order to create insightful and actionable business information.  This role will create and maintain information dashboards, canned reports and other end-user information portals or resources.  Output from deliverables will influence departmental strategy and allow the incumbent of this role to makes decisions on complex issues regarding technical approach for project components.  The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer will also have accountability for serving as the Clinical Product Organization (CPO) analytic liaison across the organization and will provide analytical direction, and strategic consulting to the CPO.

  • Acquire data from primary and secondary data sources and supports the development, implementation, and management of data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize clinical product data mining and analysis 
  • Interpret data, analyzing results using statistical techniques
  • Perform deep-dive analysis into high-dollar disease states and customer populations to identify trends and outliers
  • Provide analytical support for product managers to identify optimization and opportunities
  • Participate in data and analytic strategy and implementation discussions representing the Clinical Product organization’s needs
  • Collaborate with and leverage expertise from other organizational resources to achieve Clinical Product Organization analytic goals
  • Perform market sizing and trending analysis to show the shifts over time to support the product lifecycle decisions
  • Collect and document business requirements for reporting and analysis initiatives
  • Design, develop and deliver reports, dashboards and adhoc data requests
  • Continually identify ways to improve and enhance current reports, increasing value and usability
  • Ensure business requirements for data requests are complete, accurate, and submitted timely
  • Provide context for data and reporting, focusing on issue identification, root causes and potential solutions
  • Travel for this role may be once a month for 2-3 days

               

Role Essentials

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 or more years of technical experience in data analysis
  • Experience gathering business requirements to create reports
  • Must have strong experience in Access & Excel
  • Experience data mining and visualization tools such as Qlikview and/or Tableau
  • Advanced experience working with big and complex data sets within large organizations
  • Experience analyzing data to solve a wide variety of business problems and create data visualizations that drive strategic direction
  • Proficiency in understanding Healthcare related data
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication to senior and executive leadership
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
  • The ability to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines and multiple customers
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to determine accuracy of data and reasonableness of results and to identify and resolve errors
  • Ability to manage ambiguity in performing ad-hoc analysis for key business partners
  • Ability to suggest creative methods to enhance the effectiveness of processes and procedures
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

     

Role Desirables

  • Master Degree with quantitative focus
  • Prior experience working with medical and pharmacy claims data
  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of SQL and/or SAS programming
  • Prior work history in a clinical, pharmacy, or related setting
