The Position
Do you dream about creating a more sustainable future? At Uplight, we are motivating energy users and providers to accelerate the clean energy ecosystem. Working with over 90 of the world's leading electric and gas utilities, Uplight provides an end-to-end customer energy experience. Uplight delivers personalized experiences that customers have now come to expect-improving satisfaction, increasing revenue, reducing the cost to serve, and contributing to carbon reduction goals. We are B Corp certified, enabling us to put our values into action by not only making decisions for the benefit of our shareholders, but also for our customers, environment, employees, and community.
Uplight is seeking a Senior Program Effectiveness Analyst to help us achieve our ambitious goals for our business and for the planet. You will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to forecast, evaluate, and optimize behavioral energy efficiency, demand response, and marketplace program performance.
What you get to do:
You will be an integral part of our Customer Analytics team, generating quantitative outputs, actionable insights, and executable plans for current and prospective programs.

  • Collect, aggregate, and analyze performance data to report on program effectiveness, proactively flag programs that need attention, and continuously improve our forecasting models
  • Run our models through different scenarios to inform program design, KPI target-setting, and remediation planning
  • Identify performance trends across/within programs and drivers of difference between programs
  • Serve as an advisor to customers and customer-facing teams in managing expectations, monitoring progress, and planning for program success
  • Work cross-functionally with teams across the organization including but not limited to Customer Success, Sales, Product, Operations, Reporting, and Data Science

Skills and experience are necessary, but we hire on value alignment first, so if you feel you would be a good fit with us, still consider applying.
What you will contribute:

  • Passion for our mission and the data-driven insights that lead to greater impact in the form of larger energy savings, lower carbon emissions, and more engaged utility customers
  • Motivation to improve forecasting accuracy and better understand the factors behind underperformance and overperformance
  • Ownership over the performance outputs that contribute to winning bids, drive revenue generation, and keep our customers happy

What you bring to Uplight:

  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills paired with the ability to effectively communicate and present your logic and conclusions
  • Comfortable making decisions and recommendations in the absence of perfect data and in the presence of ambiguity and unknowns
  • Adept time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong grasp of foundational statistical, financial, and accounting concepts
  • Experience leading or contributing to forecasting, whether financial or otherwise
  • 3-5 years experience in a professional environment performing and presenting quantitative work to high-level internal and/or external stakeholders

Bonus Points:

  • Experience working on remote teams
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency and demand response programs
  • Experience working with utility companies
