The role of ­­­­­­­­­­­­­Field Data Solutions (FDS) Senior Manager will envision new solutions for the FDS team, ultimately bringing the team’s output to a new, increasingly impactful level. Your background in strategy and your strong customer mindset will be largely important as you tackle data-driven challenges and propose innovative solutions. This role will manage the overall balance of supply (new technology connecting data from farms) and demand (downstream internal and external users of this data or related products). You will also assist the Head of Field Data Solutions in driving the growing function forward towards our goals of collecting more field data and enabling use cases from it. Eventually, you will grow this functional to manage a team of analysts.


Responsibilities:

  • Map all field data currently available at Indigo and the customers that use it
  • Identify all of the key stakeholders (customers) for field data at Indigo and highlight the business / analytics processes they bring to the table
  • Create full list of supported field data attributes (across sources) with clear definitions
  • Develop full map of where data comes in / what happens in middle / which attributes are provided
    •  Manage inventory of field data (by source and in total) and work with team to maintain view of growth initiatives and how they’re doing; bring view of what supply is most valuable in providing scale in most demanded areas
    •  Collect inputs from stakeholders, and creates a dashboard to communicate all field level attributes, and status of collection in the field across all key crops and geographies, to all key stakeholders 
  • Identify gaps in field data collection and partner with stakeholders on potential root causes and solutions -- more than reporting deficiencies; a real partner in helping related business units fill the gaps
  • Meet basic field data requirements for all key stakeholders; document and gaps and define clear timelines and action plans for addressing
  • Ensure field data from GeoInnovation Data Science team is QC’ed in a timely fashion

Competencies:

  • Excellent slide creation skills (focused on conceptual or structural slides) – able to create compelling slides to display a vision or situation
  • Highly skilled at coordinating cross-functionally, especially with engineering teams on designing data pipelines
  • Extremely organized
  • Strong prioritization skills; able to balance needs from many teams
  • Excellent customer-service mindset
  • Understanding of data / databases; light SQL skills or willingness to learn
  • Self-starter
  • Excels at leading by influence
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and listening
  • Understands and embodies Indigo’s mission and core values

Qualifications:

  • 5-8+ years professional experience, ideally in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience landscaping and evaluating new data sources in a structured way
  • Prior experience collaborating very closely with engineering and technology teams
  • Successful project management experience
  • Experience driving change and process management, successfully gaining buy-in from stakeholders across teams
  • Experience negotiating and managing long-term relationships with vendors and partners
  • Prior experience leading a small team
  • MBA or other graduate degree preferred, but not required

On the edge of Charlestown, we are within walking distance to restaurants and bars. The Sullivan Square T and bus stop is also right next door! We are currently working remote/hybrid with the exception of our fantastic Biotrinsic team who work from the office and lab space here.
