Who you are


You get excited by the evolving landscape of big data solutions and setting up the infrastructure to enable other teams to harness them, and you have a track record of doing just that. Namely, you’ve stood up real-time systems at least a couple of times. When thinking of problems at-scale, you run toward challenges full-speed. You love working with teams like Data Science and Business Intelligence to see how fast you can transform data into something hugely impactful for business decisions. 


You thrive in a hyper fast paced environment that focuses on real-world, customer centric problems with iterative technical solutions. Your toolkit includes having deep experience standing up infrastructure systems, utilizing AWS, highly advanced software development skills, Kafka, and/or Kinesis.


We’d be really impressed if you’ve had experience in eCommerce environments with massive amounts of clickstream and eventstream data, we’re talking close to a billion events.


What the role is


The Senior Data Platform Engineer will help accelerate building Drizly’s real time event streaming infrastructure through a period of rapid growth. From building and supporting our Kafka infrastructure to process 1B+ events to being thought partners to teams looking to integrate with Kafka, this person will help enable adoption of Kafka across Drizly.


You will be a critical member of our Engineering organization, primarily responsible for building and maintaining our Kafka ecosystem. In addition, You will help us enable teams to integrate with our Kafka ecosystem through self service tools. In short, the Data Engineer will help define the building blocks for Drizly’s real-time streaming capabilities.

In this role you will:

  • Build and maintain our Kafka ecosystem, and code new libraries and tools to make Kafka easier to adopt
  • Troubleshoot issues at the core of our application or infrastructure layer
  • Build processes that unlock data potential for various parts of the business
  • Define new strategies that will enable our Engineering, Data Science, and Business Intelligence teams to incorporate new data sources
  • Serve as a subject matter expert when it comes to the way our real-time streaming systems and capabilities run
  • You will be using tools like ElasticSearch, Kibana, Prometheus, Kafka, etc.

For Colorado-based roles: The salary/hourly rate range for this role is $101,700 per year - $119,700 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Drizly's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award, commissions, & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
