Our customers trust us to be part of their lives – their celebrations, parties, dinners and quiet nights at home. We are there when it matters - committed to life’s moments and the people who create them. We are more than just another tech company. There is an intellectual curiosity that occurs at Drizly. We have a desire to question, to understand, to figure it out. Bottom line, we solve it. We value not just the truth but the process to get to the truth, to deliberate, decide and then act. Most importantly, we care. We care about our customer. We care about our company. We care about our team. There will be long days and incredible challenges.

We are blazing a trail in an industry that hasn’t changed in nearly a century, and that doesn’t scare us (well, not all the time) -and even when it does, it doesn’t stop us, it energizes us.

Do you see yourself here? Read on.

Who you are

You get excited by the evolving landscape of data tools, platforms and technologies, and you have a track record of setting up processing pipelines and storage/compute infrastructure to support analytics organizations. You have both the technical ability to accomplish any ETL task, and the larger vision of how a data architecture, codebase, and best practices should grow with the company. You love working with teams like Data Science and Business Intelligence to see how well you can transform raw data into highly actionable business insights. You have interest and experience productionalizing data science/ML models.

You thrive in a fast-paced, constantly improving, start-up environment that focuses on real-world, customer centric problems with iterative technical solutions. You have the desire to both drive your own roadmap, as well as enable others to self-serve. Your toolkit includes SQL and non-SQL for transformation, python for ETL and scripting, Kafka and/or Kinesis for streaming jobs, and the ability to troubleshoot distributed systems, optimize queries, and tune tables.

We’d be really impressed if you’ve had experience in eCommerce environments with massive amounts of clickstream and eventstream data, AWS (Redshift, S3, Cloudwatch, Fargate, et. al.), database management and permissioning, and vendor selection (testing new softwares, leading the discussion on cost/benefit).

What the role is

The Senior Data Engineer will support and enable Drizly’s Analytics team (Data Science + Business Intelligence) through a period of rapid data growth (50% YoY). From building a clickstream processing framework to help support 10m events per day, moving production tables to the analytics data lake, or integrating new data pipelines, Drizly’s Senior Data Engineer will be essential to create a scalable, well-managed foundation for the company.

The Senior Data Engineer is a critical member of the Analytics organization that works closely with Data Science and Business Intelligence, as well as product focused engineering teams. In short, the Analytics Data Engineer will help define, measure, and monitor the building blocks for Drizly’s data capabilities.

In this role you will:

  • Architect and build the Drizly Analytics team’s database, storage, and computational solutions through our next phase of growth
  • Maintain and add data pipelines that unlock business insights and new streams of revenue for various parts of the business
  • Productionalize and monitor deployed models built by the data science team
  • Support and mentor the Data Science and Business Intelligence teams: mentoring individuals to improve their data engineering skills, implementing best practices in terms of coding standards, version control, query optimization and table tuning
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on industry-wide data data tools, platforms and technologies, recommend and implement those solutions matching the future needs of Drizly’s analytics organization

The Other Stuff

  • Competitive salary
  • One-on-one professional coaching with external expert
  • Health, Dental and Vision Insurance
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Commuter benefits 401(K) Plan
