As a Senior Data Analyst on the Business Intelligence team you will be responsible to take on HubSpot’s biggest and most complex data challenges related to internal reporting and analytics. You will utilize data warehousing and code development best practices to enable access to information by creating and maintaining foundational data models.

HubSpot’s Business Intelligence team is chartered with making HubSpot smarter through enabling an ever-deeper understanding of its customers. We’re not a centralized reporting-only team, we’re a team of data model developers that partners with our business leaders to provide access to the data they need to manage our business intelligently. We tackle HubSpot’s hardest data challenges, manage our BI infrastructure, and provide leverage to each other and to a network of business analysts throughout the company.

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Utilize data warehousing and code development best practices to enable access to information by creating and maintaining foundational data models.
  • Support distributed operations teams (sales ops, services ops) as they utilize these foundational data models for management reporting.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis on customer data and other internal data to yield insights that improve HubSpot’s strategy, systems, and business execution.
  • Work closely with other Data Analysts, Data Product Managers, Data Architect and Data Engineers to collaboratively deliver on projects.
  • With Data Product Managers, define/refine project requirements with business stakeholders. Participate in key touch points to keep stakeholders informed throughout projects and provide documentation to enable your deliverables to speak for themselves.

You will have experience in:

  • Participating in and leading the technical execution of business intelligence and analytics related projects of large scope and complexity.
  • Using BI tools to do front-end modeling and data visualization. We use Looker extensively as a team.
  • Using advanced SQL techniques (windows functions, JSON flattening, common table expressions, UDFs, etc.) for data investigation, transformation, and analysis.
  • Working with a variety of data stores and data technologies (MySQL, Redshift, S3, Snowflake, HBase, Kafka, Spark, JSON) as a regular user and/or operationally.
  • Working iteratively on projects as part of an Agile Scrum team comprised of different functional roles.
  • Translating project requirements into a set of technical sub-tasks that build towards a final deliverable.
  • Code development in a version control environment; you’re comfortable giving and getting code reviews.
  • Combining data from disparate data sources to identify insights that were previously unknown.
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of a SaaS business and/or experience working at one.
  • Experience performing statistical data analysis utilizing Python or R is a plus.
