We are hiring a Research Engineer/Research Scientist - Prediction (AV) to take a leading role integrating Perceptive Automata’s state-of-mind AI into path predictions for pedestrians and other road users. As part of the Research Team, you will conduct research into prediction stacks that incorporate human intuitions. The goal is to enable the autonomous vehicles (AVs) of our customers to smoothly and safely operate around humans. Your work will be at the intersection of machine learning, perception, and motion planning in close collaboration with other members of the Research team as well as engineering. Ideally, you will have experience with a variety of different approaches to path prediction, for example Dynamic Bayesian networks or probabilistic trajectory matching. As a member of our small team, your contributions will have an out-sized effect on our research efforts and the direction of the company as a whole.

Strongly Preferred Skills & Background:

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of industry experience working on prediction for autonomous vehicles.
  • Strong Python programming skills
  • Strong communication skills -- both written and verbal
  • Experience with State Space Models such as Kalman filters
  • Understanding of Dynamic Bayesian networks in general
  • Previous work on context-based Path Prediction

Also Helpful:

  • Strong C++ skills
  • Experience developing a commercial AV stack
  • Previous contributions to research efforts with publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Understanding of deep neural networks
  • Experience with cognitive science or other brain sciences
  • Previous work in a team on large-scale Python projects
  • Previous experience at a fast-moving early-stage startup
