Quantitative Consultant

To help us achieve our mission, we are hiring a Quantitative Consultant to join our Annuity or our Health Valuation team.
The Teams
The Annuity and Health Valuation Teams are focused on the valuation and actuarial reporting for all of MassMutual's products. Our work affects regulatory compliance, strategic decision-making and inforce management. We are seeking individuals that will help drive delivery of accurate financial information and analysis, in actionable and forward-thinking ways. The Impact
- Demonstrates accountability in providing quantitative support leveraging knowledge of actuarial business functions and risks, statistical methods of analysis, company actuarial systems and databases, and their integration, and technical facility with leading computer tools and technology.
- Develop, document, and maintain methodologies, assumptions, qualifications, and computer programs, using a variety of programming languages and software, to capture data for moderately complex actuarial analysis. Demonstrate ownership in learning and collaborating with others to meet customer needs.
- You will have the opportunity to act as project lead on actuarial studies, pricing strategies and policies.
The Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or higher with a Mathematics, Finance or Computer/Data Science or related field
- 5+ years of experience including the following:
- actuarial business functions and risks
- statistical methods of analysis
- company actuarial systems and/or databases, and their integration
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across cross-functional groups
- Competencies – accountability, agility, business acumen, communication, courage, development, inclusion, leading others, resilience and self-awareness
The Ideal Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access
- A programming language knowledge such as visual basic or SQL is helpful as are experience with tools such as Alteryx, Alation and Microstrategy
- Experience with SAP, include data extraction, a plus
- Mainframe programming a plus: EZ Plus, COBOL, Fortran
- 5+ years of related business experience
- Very strong math, analytical and problem-solving skills
