Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the Microbiome Analysis pipelines
  • Propose a series of analytical and experimental approaches to understand microbiomes functionally
  • Implement automated analysis of functional microbial communities, integrating existing genomic data assets
  • Serve as a thought and technical leader for microbiome analysis from R&D through the field
  • Bring high quality, state-of-the-art data science and computational biology techniques to laboratory teams working to understand microbial communities

  • Excellent communication skills; highly skilled at teaching and presenting to both nontechnical and laboratory audiences
  • Thirst for knowledge; always looking to implement new techniques from the literature and apply them to understand Indigo’s unique data asset
  • Systematic thinker; able to integrate diverse sources of data and observations into a coherent, testable framework
  • Expert at translating theoretical concepts to quantitative analyses and suggesting follow-up experiments to perform
  • Able to write clear, repeatable software for analysis of large datasets
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, growth environment
  • Understands and embodies Indigo’s mission and core values

Qualifications:

  • PhD in computational biology or related field
  • 2+ years industry experience; 5+ years experience (including graduate education) working with microbiome data
  • Strong knowledge of statistics, computational approaches to biology, and machine learning and how they can be successfully applied to spare, undetermined microbiome datasets
  • Experience in modelling and interrogating microbial metabolism and pairing this with community sequencing data
  • Strong experience programming in Python and R; comfortable with UNIX and AWS
  • Experience with wet lab biology and/or microbiology strongly preferred; understands the messiness and biases these methods bring to data analysis

Location

On the edge of Charlestown, we are within walking distance to restaurants and bars. The Sullivan Square T and bus stop is also right next door! We are currently working remote/hybrid with the exception of our fantastic Biotrinsic team who work from the office and lab space here.
