Market Strategist, Diverse Segments
The Opportunity
MassMutual is looking for a motivated and collaborative Market Segment Strategist to build and lead our vision to serve diverse markets and drive profitable policy and premium growth. The initial focus of the role will be to stimulate our growth in the African American/Black consumer market. Ongoing work will focus on developing effective needs-based marketing strategies that leverage consumer insights, market trends and demographic data to reach growing diverse consumer segments (e.g. Multicultural, LGBTQIA, Women, etc). The Team
As a Market Segment Strategist, you will join a collaborative team that delivers on plans with a sense of urgency, meeting, and exceeding expectation. The Market Segmentation and Development team will lead an enterprise customer growth strategy, focusing on key consumer segments including business owners, affluent, multicultural, and other diverse segments. The team will consistently identify and refine ways to gain scale and maximize the synergy between consumer segments and distribution channels.
The Impact
As the Strategist, you will partner with internal and external stakeholders across multiple functions including Product, Legal, Operations, Marketing and Sales to enable MassMutual to acquire diverse customers. You'll influence distribution strategy, positioning of our solutions, and engagement of target consumers in select designated market areas (DMAs). This will be done by drawing upon best practices from multiple disciplines (i.e., advertising, digital/social, PR/media relations, product and others) to deploy a test-and-learn approach that will attract customers, grow revenue, and recruit/retain sales professionals in serving diverse consumer segments.
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years of progressive marketing work experience in developing consumer strategy and marketing programs with specific focus on developing strategy and programs to reach diverse consumers.
Experience in driving market development, marketing & advertising within diverse markets utilizing various media, event, and other community outlets.
Experience in working with various sales distribution channels – career, independent, strategic partnership and institutional
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable making presentations to business partners and management.
Ability to handle complex long-term focused projects involving multiple disciplines or business units
Self-starter, entrepreneurial, resourceful and comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment where self-sufficiency is essential. Excellent organizational skills
Experience in identifying and nurturing relationships with key multicultural affinity groups and centers of influence.
Understand the unique cultural nuances and values between the key cultural markets to align with MassMutual's go-to-market strategy.
Works independently and with management on high visible, cross-divisional complex projects.
Bachelor's degree required, with focus in marketing or communications preferred – other fields will be considered
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in insurance or financial services
Master's degree
