Director, Business Analytics (RetailConvergence.com, LP.; Boston, Massachusetts): Responsible for leading the Marketing Analytics team and accelerating business growth. The individual in this role will be responsible for hiring and managing a team of analysts to deliver data-driven insights, reporting and consulting services to stakeholders in the marketing organization and across the company. The individual in this role will define the analytics roadmap in partnership with stakeholders, executives and other data teams.

 Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Grow, train and lead a team of business analysts and data scientists.
  • Prioritize and manage multi-discipline and complex advanced analytics projects and communicate progress with key stakeholders.
  • Translate complex analytics tasks into concise and easily consumable reports and insights.
  • Analyze variety of data (normal, big, categorical, text) to answer strategic business questions.
  • Implement data mining models to drive marketing initiatives such as customer segmentation, revenue forecasting, predicting next customer action, targeting, recommend cross-sell and up-sell opportunities.
  • Design unbiased marketing tests using best practices from design of scientific experiments and report results.
  • Automate and scale data mining models and business analytics reports.
  • Develop consistent approaches and methodologies to develop a best in class analytics practice.
  • Collaborate with complementary departments within the organization (technology, data, product, merchants, finance) to further analytics acceptance and culture.
  • Create and deliver presentations of insights to share with all levels of the organization including to company executive leadership and to board.
  • Focus on continuous improvements – push the organization towards new and improved ways to use data to improve business processes.
  • Proactively look for opportunities to improve the business outside of the specific questions asked and understand how to influence the organization to make the needed changes.
  • Determine needs for tools, systems and data necessary to support analysis objectives over time.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field and 7 years of experience in consumer/retail database marketing analysis including analytics, response analysis, return on investment (ROI) analysis, and customer profiling. Alternatively, will accept Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field and 5 years of experience in consumer/retail database marketing analysis including analytics, response analysis, return on investment (ROI) analysis, and customer profiling.

Must also have: (I) Experience in consumer/retail database marketing analysis must include experience: (a) working in customer/business stakeholders facing consulting environments; (b) leading analytics teams; (c) working with marketing/digital marketing and/or ecommerce businesses and data; and (d) working with disparate data sources and types to answer business questions. (II) Track record managing a high-performance business analytics and data science teams in consultative situations. (III) Strong hands-on experience with database querying tools, languages and analytical platforms supporting database marketing including SQL and big-data technologies. (IV) Experience analyzing omni channel digital ad campaigns with substantial ad spend. (V) Experience working with technology teams such as engineering, business intelligence, data warehousing and data science for implementing customer facing software and data-analytics applications. (VI) Demonstrated experience having developed various types of data mining models including linear/logistic regression, clustering, and classification using R or Python. (VII) Knowledge and experience using business intelligence tools including Tableau or Spotfire. (VIII) Demonstrated knowledge of statistics and application of design of experiments and statistics to business analysis. (IX) Track record multitasking over several projects and demonstrating an innovative, positive and self-directed attitude interested in figuring out solutions to problems or methodologies for improving deliverables.
