As a Data Visualization Engineer on our Data Labs team, you will build cutting edge visualizations to drive actionable insights from large and complex datasets. Collaborating across multiple teams, you will execute complex, novel projects through rapid prototyping and provide data-driven solutions and visualizations. You will be pivotal in Data Labs’ mission to demonstrate the value of Indigo’s research and data while serving as a proving ground for new ideas before going to market.

Responsibilities:

• Build rapid prototypes and custom visualizations with intuitive interfaces that drive business impact
• Implement solutions using JavaScript-based data visualization libraries and tools (D3, React, etc.) and AWS technologies such as S3, EC2 and Postgres
• Collaborate with data scientists, BI analysts and engineering to understand data and design compelling visualizations
• Guide design mockups with intuitive and actionable data-driven solutions
• Own the execution of projects by navigating dependencies, managing scope, and driving business impact

• Demonstrated history of building intuitive and interactive visualizations (if you have a portfolio to share, we’d love to see it)
• Passion for data visualization and discovering the best ways to communicate insights effectively

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience working professionally in data visualization, analytics, or web development 
• Fluent in JavaScript with up-to-date knowledge of ES6; practical experience with ReactJS preferred, VueJS or AngularJS is a plus
• Extensive experience with D3 (or other front end JS data viz libraries)
• Experience connecting front-end interfaces with SQL-based databases (e.g. Postgres) and RESTFUL API endpoints (e.g. Flask)
• Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 
• Familiarity with Git or similar version control
• UX / UI experience is a plus
• Some experience with Python and analytical skills preferred
