Title: Data Integration Engineer 

Boston, MA

Job Description: 

We are actively hiring a full-time Data Integration Engineer with 5+ years of data integration experience who wants to create something meaningful that will greatly impact people’s lives. PatientPing receives HL7 data from hospitals and HIEs around the country and the Data Integration Engineer will be part of the team managing our HL7 data infrastructure, and helping to develop the technical roadmap for different types of data ingestion. They will be responsible for ensuring the overall stability and reliability of the system and they will play an integral role in onboarding new facilities, mapping data, and ensuring that appropriate logic is applied. This role will also involve architecting solutions for complex client needs and working with the engineering team to ensure PatientPing is continuously capable of meeting our rapidly growing data consumption demands. The ideal candidate will work well in a team, be detail oriented, and will take ownership of the data flow process, inbound and outbound. 

What You Will Do:

• Work closely with the Integration Team to ensure the highest standards and levels of security and scale are met

• Work closely with the Operations team to ensure all of our customer needs are met

• Build and maintain multiple HL7 interfaces

• Fine-tune the infrastructure to sustain peak performance

• Work closely with complex clients to architect interoperability solutions

What Success Looks Like:

In 3 months…

Execute: 

• Drive forward outbound services projects once they’re kicked off

• Contribute to data-mining for issue solutions

• Set up standard inbound and outbound interfaces in our integration engine

• Set up custom solutions in our integration engine as needed

In 6 months… 

Management: 

• Working directly with product, engineering, and customers to align and execute on interoperability needs, keeping in mind the scalability and feasibility of any custom requests 

• Design reporting and metrics revolving around our interoperability story, in order to add transparency and highlight wins & learnings

In 12 months… 

Management: 

• Operate in a streamlined operational construct you’ve designed for outbound services, solution design, and new feature rollouts. 

• Build a strategy and roadmap for our interoperability story, ensuring the most sensible tools are utilized and up to date, and keeping to the highest standards of quality and security 

What You Need:

• 5+ years of HL7 experience in a high volume high availability environment

• Extensive working knowledge of HL7 data exchange formats (FHIR nice to have)

• Experience with a HL7 integration engine - Mirth Connect preferred

• Ability to construct and execute SQL queries

• Ability to communicate clearly and comfortably with customers

• Familiarity with HTTP, VPN, TCP

• JavaScript experience a plus
