Job Summary: 

The Finance and Analytics Group in the Supervision, Regulation, and Credit Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston (FRBB) has an opening for a Data Analyst. The Finance and Analytics group develops the budget and multi-year forecast for the Supervision and Regulation department, including reporting to department and Bank leadership and the Board of Governors. The group also helps administer the Federal Reserve System time tracking application (ROAM) and Conflicts of Interest. The group provides analysis and reports to support management decision making around staffing, resource allocation, and expenditures. The work performed by the group ensures appropriate resources to support the Bank’s mission to contribute to local communities by providing supervisory oversight and ensures compliance with Bank and Board of Governors regulations and guidance.

 

The Data Analyst will analyze and transform data into meaningful and valuable input for management decision making. By working with several individuals across the organization, you will analyze multiple types of data from financial and employee tracking systems, accessed through backend database queries, and use different presentation formats and tools to increase efficiency, improve and automate processes.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

•             With some guidance performs complex business analysis on department financial, time tracking, and conflicts records data. Analyze problems with appropriate logic and fact-finding and begin to identify underlying issues and recognizes trends and cause and effect relationships. Use complex data, tools, and technology to perform non-routine tasks. Train others and perform troubleshooting when errors occur.

•             Partner with team members within the unit, the department, the Bank and the System. Coordinate own work with others in group projects. Manage workflow independently.

•             With some oversight, presents both orally and in written form on non-complex business matters to internal and external stakeholders, System colleagues, and the Board of Governors.

•             Influence or negotiates change in behavior or viewpoint of others with senior staff support. Contribute to possible solutions on moderately complex business issues related to finance, time tracking, conflicts, and records.

•             Demonstrate experience adjusting to new and different priorities.

•             Provide guidance and constructive feedback to less experienced staff and peers. May assign work to junior or project team members.

 

Qualifications:

•             Master’s degree or equivalent

•             2 years of related work experience

•             Proficiency in data visualization using Tableau, PowerBI, Shiny or other dashboarding tools

•             Experience using SQL, R, Python, or similar programming and analytics applications desired
