ABOUT THIS ROLE:
You will be joining a small, experienced legal and compliance team focused on moving at a rapid pace and providing innovative solutions in tandem with the growing business.
Your job will require you to work closely with your fellow team members, to help with a variety of tasks in the legal, compliance, information security, and state filing space. Some responsibilities include:
- Partnering with the business to ensure readiness on releases of new products and new features - including crystalizing scoping, testing, and communications
- Conducting discretionary reviews of the current business practices and identity any potential gaps based on state or company mandates
- Assisting with the development of state specific mandates including new, growing regulatory areas such as suitability or underwriting requirements
- Partnering with MassMutual audit and Regulatory Relations teams during and after audits/exams to identify and solve issues and create documentation to meet any required mitigations
- Drafting business communications and recommendations via JIRA or Confluence
- Establishing and testing information security and risk controls in preparation for internal and external audits
- Assisting with corporate governance matters
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Partner with compliance and business partners to identify and assess any gaps throughout the product development lifecycle - inclusive of application, underwriting, and post-issuance workflows.
- Lead readiness activities to ensure smooth transitions with both new products or product/customer/agent feature enhancements.
- Assist with suitability readiness - with a focus on life insurance and New York.
- Contribute to and oversee implementation of changes to internal procedures. Interacts with all levels, including leaders in the organization.
- Draft/review procedures, participate on project teams, conduct process reviews/audits, create and deliver educational materials, and consult on business questions. Partner with compliance and business owners to oversee and complete required updates.
- Collect, organize and prepare documentation to support information security policies and practices. Help investigate and respond to potential information security issues that may include client information or other confidential Company data.
- Assist with state filings, including: reviewing contract information, helping to organize documentation, and assist with implementation of newly approved materials.
- Assist with special assignments as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 8+ years relevant experience
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future
PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of and experience with privacy, information security, and insurance laws and regulations
- Experience using Lexis Nexis and other tools to research legal and regulatory issues
