Basis Technology is a world-class text analytics company looking for a data production manager to join our natural language processing (NLP) engineering team. Help us gather and manage data used in knowledge-based systems, machine learning and deep learning. As a manager, you will also help mentor junior team members, and manage scrum teams, processes and artifacts. Join us and help us create the next wave of software for NLP and text analytics.

Responsibilities:
- Act as technical lead for the data management team, serving the data needs of engineering department
- Consult on the linguistic data needs of engineering projects and customer engagements
- Manage data engineers
- Collaborate with product/research teams to define and fulfill data needs
- Work with legal department to ensure compliance with copyrights and licenses
- Hire and manage part-time multilingual staff of annotators
- Manage crowd-sourcing resources such as Mechanical Turk and CrowdFlower
- Serve as scrum master of engineering teams as needed

Qualifications:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree, degree in linguistics preferred
- 4-7 years relevant experience
- Record of success in coordinating team-based projects as product owner and scrum master as well as mentoring junior members of staff
- Experience with command line scripting and version control systems
- Familiarity with programming in Python or a similar language
- Comfort with statistical measurements of data quality
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities and manage time effectively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
