Markforged is seeking a talented in-house video editor to join our studio team. Projects will range from short-form studio shows geared towards Youtube and social channels, with room for growth into editing bespoke mini-docs that shape culture. An editor with a deep passion for storytelling is essential. We are revamping our content studio and are assembling the best local talent to aim to tell the greatest stories on the web.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, have a love for science and engineering, be excellent at story and empathy, with a strong proficiency in Adobe Premiere (and bonus for ability to work in Photoshop and After Effects). They will have a deep understanding of both conventional & digital-first storytelling techniques as well as the desire to be innovative in their approach to edits and post-production. Editor must be organized and maintain labeling and archiving conventions. An editor with experience behind a camera also a strong plus, though we specifically want to hire a candidate with a desire to grow specifically as an editor. 

The Video Editor must work in-office at our office in Watertown and will work directly with our Creative Director, social & marketing teams, engineers and upcoming producer. Additionally, this position will be responsible for managing our equipment room operations and providing technical support for day to day in-house and remote productions. Enthusiasm, team-mentality, an ability to juggle multiple projects, and initiative to kick-start projects in a busy work environment are all huge musts.

What you have:

• Minimum two years of professional experience in editing and/or assistant editing
• Ability to chase, own, and follow up on compelling stories
• Proficient in Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop
• Knowledge of editing techniques, audio mixing, color correction techniques and software, media file formats, animated graphics and equipment used in day-to-day post-production processes.
• Motion graphics experience a plus
• Doesn’t settle for “good enough” - passion for growth with strong personal creative standards
• Collaborates and shares ideas freely
• Ability to follow direction closely
• Has a strong sense of self and sense of humor a plus
• Engineering background and/or passion for science a strong plus
• Works well with teams, responds well to feedback and communicates effectively
