As Video Creator/Editor for SmarterTravel.com, you will oversee video production and editing, curate SmarterTravel’s YouTube channel, coordinate with the social media team, and report on video analytics. You will also brainstorm video ideas, assist writers and editors with shooting hosted videos, be comfortable speaking on camera, and work with editors on video brainstorming for trips.

Who you are

• 2-3 years’ experience in photography/video field
• 1-2 years of experience editing and shooting video
• Extensive knowledge of Mac-based video editing systems (Adobe CC)
• Ability to own video projects from inception to completion; strong understanding of all aspects of production, including: storyboarding, scriptwriting, and shot lists; equipment, camera set-ups, and shooting; editing, finishing, and uploading of short-form travel videos
• Adept video editor with a strong understanding of all aspects of production
• Ability to animate and create graphic packages for video
• Able to maintain standards of archiving and media organization
• Strong storytelling skills and creativity; ability to create compelling storylines
• Willingness to coach editors on filming techniques and visual storytelling skills
• Strong sense of visual design, including typography and color theory
• Communicative, reliable, collaborative, and highly motivated

What you will do

• Collaborate with our editorial team to translate articles and ideas into entertaining and informative visual stories.
• Edit and upload 2-4 videos per week.
• Organize video shoots and contribute to all aspects of production including lighting and sound.
• Edit video projects using Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Create graphics for videos.
• Work with social media team for video for social platforms.
• Write scripts for text-based videos and short companion stories to accompany videos.
• Work with editors on storyboards for filming in the field. Give the go-ahead on editor video ideas, and work with editors on visual storytelling.
• Building off existing structure, further develop and lead YouTube video strategy implementation.
• Schedule in-studio and off-site shoots with editors. Assist with script writing and directing.
• Stay up to date on video trends.
• Reach out to YouTubers, Influencers, and STN brands for collaboration opportunities.
